KPV is the linear tripeptide lysine-proline-valine, corresponding to the C-terminal tripeptide sequence of alpha-MSH, and is supplied as a defined research reference for controlled biochemical and analytical work.
As one of the shortest peptides in the range, KPV poses particular analytical demands: its low molecular weight of 342.43 g/mol sits close to typical solvent and matrix signals, so MS detection needs to be tuned to a low m/z window. On reversed-phase HPLC, the small, polar molecule elutes very early, a point the method selection takes into account.
Purity (≥99% by specification), CAS number 67727-97-3 and formula C16H30N4O4 make up the specification; the batch certificate of analysis is available for the product on request.
